City Business Licenses

Any person or entity performing business-type activities within the city limits of Boonville, Missouri must obtain a City of Boonville business license, whether or not that business occupies a facility within Boonville city limits.

Festival and Event Permits

If you are planning an event hosted by your organization, which solicits and allows vendors to operate as a part of the festival/event, you will need to complete our Festival and Event Permit Application.

The City of Boonville considers a festival as an event that consists of walk/runs, stationary booths, stages, alcoholic beverage areas, tents, storerooms, street stands, vehicles, trailers, or other temporary place or structure, for the sale of food, confections, toys, jewelry, groceries, dried goods, drinks of all kind, goods, wares, merchandise or services, operated from doorways, building recesses, city parks, alleyways, vacant lots, public or private parking lots, private streets or walkways or any other place near the public street of the city and which may last for a maximum of 14-days and all days must be consecutive in any three-month period. 

Any event hosted by an organization shall submit the Festival and Event Permit Application no less than 2 months prior to the event. Festival Events managed by organizations are required to obtain a Festival Event License/Permit issued by the city in the amount as stated on the form.  Vendors not operating under the festival event license/permit or vendors/businesses that do not have a City of Boonville business license, shall not locate within one-fourth mile from the boundary of any entertainment event, special event, or festival event unless the vendor has written authorization from the festival event coordinator to operate with the festival boundaries or within one-fourth mile thereof.

The holder of the Festival Event License/Permit shall be responsible for verifying that all participating vendors are qualified and vendors operating as part of the festival event are not required to obtain a business license if they demonstrate to the holder of the festival vendors license/permit that they:

  1. Have a valid retail sales license issued by the state director of revenue as required by RSMo 144.083 and a statement from the state director of revenue of not taxes due;
  2. Have a valid Federal Employer Identification;
  3. If a food vendor, coordinate with Cooper County Health Department regarding food operating permit;
  4. Obey all applicable local, state, and federal laws.
